Safety at Sea.

Since its establishment in 1972, the Groupement des Pêcheurs Navigants (GPN) Mutual Marine Insurance Company has effectively implemented the needs of the small-scale fishing trade by controlling the risks of its profession and providing effective group insurance coverage. The French Small-scale Fishing Flotilla insures its catcher vessels with the GPN, which is in charge of providing optimum risk coverage and managing the day-to-day incidents and insurance requirements of its shipowner-operators.

The GPN Mutual Marine Insurance Company covers the operating risks for some 65 ships and has an insurance portfolio worth more than FF 260 million, thereby covering a major part of the risks of the Small-scale Fishing Flotilla.

The GPN Mutual Marine Insurance Company:

• Covers the risks associated with shipping, including fire at sea, running aground, the expenses associated with assistance and salvage operations, specific averages and court proceedings; it provides comprehensive hull and engine insurance, towage assistance, assistance and consultancy services during ship-building, civil liability and employer's liability;
  
  
• Manages the insurance files of its policy-holders in the best of their interests;
  
  
• Advises shipowner-operators about optimising their insurance coverage for operating risks on shore and at sea.
